Tank vessel means a ship that is constructed or adapted to carry, or that carries, oil in bulk as cargo or cargo residue, and that:
Vessel means every description of watercraft, unless otherwise defined by the department, other than a seaplane on the water, used or capable of being used as a means of transportation on water. Where unusual conditions, loads, or circumstances exist, the towing company or the Master of the vessel is to advise the Operations Centre, prior to the transit, of the compensatory measures to be taken during the transit. The Tribunal adds that it is also relevant to note that the Guinean authorities cited Saint Vincent and the Grenadines as the flag State of the Saiga in the cédule de citation by which criminal proceedings were lodged against the Master of the vessel before the Court of First Instance of Conakry. The Master of the vessel, or such person delegated by them, shall, if so requested, produce this permit (or a true photocopy of it) and the originals of these documents to any authorised person (see Notes below). Thereafter, for any change in the ETA of the vessel by more than a period of 24 hours, the supplier shall either advise or arrange with the Master of the vessel so that NFL is advised about the revised ETA of the vessel. It is understood by all parties concerned that it is an undisputed principle in shipping law that the Master of the vessel is absolutely responsible for the proper mooring, control and unmooring of the vessel.
However, nothing in these procedures relieves the Master of the vessel from his obligations for safety, following additional precautions as would be required by the normal practice of seamen or from employing a Pilot and tug(s) if he so requires. Examples of Master of the vessel in a sentence
